World of Warcraft like Cocaine

I found an interesting blog post relating World of Warcraft addiction and cocaine addiction. Being one of the biggest, if not, biggest MMO game, it is not surprising that people become addicted to it. However, when you relate a game with the properties of a drug like cocaine, it starts to sound a bit extreme. And in this case, it is extreme with the blog referencing deaths from playing the game excessively. Even from personal experience, my friend failed his engineering classes due to WoW. Even after switching majors, he continues to play WoW as if nothing had happened before. But jokingly, at the end of the blog, the author says it is not a literal comparison, just a metaphor.
