Seeing as how today is Friday the 13th I thought it only fit to share an article about none other than this day, Friday the 13th. So why all the humdrum and superstition? Does this day really have anything to do with some guy in a hockey mask trying to hunt me down??? Actually the answer is pretty simple and has a lot to do with this class. It’s all about traditions and beliefs an as this article states, “in modern times, superstition permeates society”. Just something to think about, sounded a little familiar to something I may have heard in class. Something like culture mediates our experiences of the world. So if you’re wondering what in fact is so ominous about this sacred day of Friday the 13th, it’s basically based on superstition and our interpretation thereof. Many hotels, airlines and even hospitals do not have a room number 13 or chose to omit that floor because of fear of the number itself. And while there has never been any real scientific prove that the number 13 has anything to do with madness or mayhem still some shudder to think of walking outside on this day of all days. But don’t fret if you are one of these such people, although we’re only on the second Friday the 13th of this year alone, there’s only one more this year that you’ll have to suffer through. Three in one year, now that’s kinda unlucky right there.
