Unarmed druggie gets shot, facebook reports

Recently there has been a drug raid in the Mesa Court housing community here at UCI along with a string of other drug related arrests. While no hard drugs were found a very substantial amount or marijuana was allegedly founded and confiscated. Thankfully no one was hurt in the reported bust. The same can not be said for student Derek Copp, who was apparently shot unarmed in the chest for a routine drug bust for retaining nothing more than marijuana. I guess we should all be thankful that our campus police do not carry the same vigor as those in Copp’s case. On a side note, I find it interesting that upon describing Copp for the article it appears no substantial interviews were conducted and that simply information from his Facebook account were used and quoted to gain insight on his character. More and more these social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook useful in everyday life as we can see them incorporated into the news as well as other mediums.
