I read an article on the New York Times that was titled :
Another similar site to Facebook is Myspace. With Myspace one can delete their account for good. All the personal information will be diminished and a new account can be created by him/her.
I found this very inconvenient having a Facebook and not being able to delete the account in a click of a button. According to this article, “Users can also have their account completely removed by deleting all of the data associated with their account and then deactivating it,” Ms. Sezak said in her message. “Users can then write to Facebook to request their account be deleted and their e-mail will be completely erased from the database.” I find this a pain to just go through this process in order to have a Facebook account deleted. I don't think it's a good thing either because having your personal information saved in any kind of site like Facebook is creepy. Someone can find information about you that work at Facebook. A membership on Facebook is stuck with you in second life which I think is a bummer.

How Sticky Is Membership on Facebook? Just Try Breaking Free
This article was about how one creates a Facebook account and decides to delete their account, but in reality his/her Facebook account is not deleted. There is no delete button for in Facebook, but their is a deactivate button. According to the article, “Deactivated accounts mean that a user can reactivate at any time and their information will be available again just as they left it. But it also means that disenchanted users cannot disappear from the site without leaving footprints. Facebook’s terms of use state that “you may remove your user content from the site at any time,” but also that “you acknowledge that the company may retain archived copies of your user content.”Another similar site to Facebook is Myspace.
