I was looking around searching different topics about virtual worlds, when I cam across a sort of virtual travel agency for Second Life.
Even just on the first couple of pages, I found things from all different time periods reminiscent of various places. There's even a scaled rebuild of the Titanic! Furthermore, the site is filled with info for first-timers with lots of places to visit first and even a section on proper Second Life etiquette.
There were two parts I found the most interesting. First were the corporately sponsored areas (e.g. - Mercedes Benz Island, IBM Codestation, an American Apparel Store). It showed how much the consumer culture follows the tech culture these days. Second was a topic regarding men's fashion in Second Life, which linked to another blog that gives tips as to where to find the best men's clothing. Culture inside a culture.
For those of you looking into doing research about or maybe even in Second Life, I'd say that this site is a pretty good way to orient yourself with the environment.
